  • First Year Resident

Are you in a special track or focus during your residency?

I am in the global health track.

Why did you choose UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program? Why Pittsburgh?

During my fourth year of medical school, I had the opportunity to rotate at UPMC Shadyside and was impressed by the program’s strong sense of community and commitment to patient care. The residents and faculty created a very welcoming and supportive environment, and I appreciated their dedication to teaching. I am also very passionate about global and community health, and I was excited to see that I could pursue those interests at Shadyside. After my rotation and interview, I felt confident that Shadyside was a place where I wanted to complete my residency training. Additionally, I grew up in Pittsburgh and knew I wanted to return to the city for residency, especially to have the support of my family and friends nearby.

What are your goals while here in the residency program? How will this prepare you to be an excellent physician?

While in this program, my goal is to become a confident, competent, and well-rounded physician. In addition to learning to provide comprehensive medical care to my individual patients, I also want to continue to learn new ways to utilize my public health background to help address health challenges on a community and global level as well.

Do you have any specials interests outside of the residency?

Outside of residency, I love walking/running, hiking, board games, and playing sports (especially soccer and pickleball). I also enjoy trying new restaurants and traveling to explore new states and countries.
