Raghu Bhardwaj, DO

  • First Year Resident

Are you in a special track or focus during your residency?

I am in the Osteopathic Recognition Track. My interests are in Lifestyle Medicine, LGBTQIA+ health, and underserved populations.

Why did you choose UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program? Why Pittsburgh?

I chose this program because it is a large institution that offers many opportunities that would fulfill all my interests, while still upholding a tight-knit community that makes me feel included and remembered. Based on my interview, the website, and interactions with the faculty, I had the sense that the training here would craft me into being the most well-rounded physician, so that I can serve different types of individuals in various sorts of settings. Pittsburgh appealed to me since it was a “chill” city that is full of events and young crowds, distinct neighborhoods, and a strong food scene in which places close late!

What are your goals while here in the residency program? How will this prepare you to be an excellent physician?

My goal is to take full advantage of the time in residency to cultivate my skill set in a controlled setting with the support of medical experts. I would like to observe and practice different styles of medicine, ultimately identifying with one that best aligns with my vision in helping underserved populations. Throughout this journey, I am eager to build competency, form meaningful relationships, and make a lasting impact on the health of my community.

Do you have any specials interests outside of the residency?

Some of my interests include working out, cooking, hiking, ballroom dancing, line dancing, yoga, volleyball, concerts, trying out new foods, and spending time with my friends and family.
