Didactics

Family Medicine Didactics occur weekly on Wednesday afternoons and include topics presented by Family Medicine physicians, pharmacists, specialists, and other medical educators. Family Medicine-pertinent topics run on an 18-month cycle and routinely incorporate behavioral science and pediatric topics. A full list of didactic disciplines is presented below.  We have revitalized our didactics this academic year to include micro lectures on high-yield topics with a shorter overall duration to give residents extra time for administrative tasks and personal needs.

Other didactic activities include: chronic care team meetings, Electronic Health Record (EHR) updates/best practices, Medical Decision Making (MDM), Morbidity and Mortality Conferences, wellness activities, Chief meetings, and Program Director meetings. Our quality improvement curriculum was recently redesigned but remains dedicated to multi-disciplinary workgroups supporting evidence-based improvements in patient care within our office and community. All Family Medicine residents are expected to attend didactics unless on a restricted rotation or vacation except for our PGY-3 residents, who can elect to have office hours, or attend didactics- whichever is more conducive to their learning and overall training goals.
